About Us

FOKUS, a platform for Norwegian women’s organizations is a knowledge and resource center based on its affiliated organizations. Founded in 1995, it has since developed cooperation projects for women’s organizations in the global south.

The overall objective of FOKUS is to strengthen women’s empowerment, rights and access to resources.

In Latin America, FOKUS supports women’s organizations through projects within three programmatic lines: Prevention of violence against women, youth, and girls; Sexual and reproductive health and rights in Colombia and Guatemala; and Women, Peace, and Security in Colombia.

The FOKUS Women Magazine, created in 2020, is an annual publication in Spanish and English, with free access that highlights the commitment of FOKUS and the women’s and LBT population organizations, partners in Colombia and Guatemala, to strengthening sexual rights, reproductive rights, preventing all types of violence against girls, young women and women, and building peace.

Through analytical articles, interviews, life stories, chronicles, voices, and photo reports produced by partner organizations, we seek to disseminate the various contributions made in the territories where FOKUS-supported projects are implemented. The magazine also allows FOKUS to share its reflections on topics related to its strategic objectives.
